According to The Sentencing Project there are nearly 5 million people in the United States who cannot vote due to a previous felony conviction.

In Virginia, Kentucky, Iowa and Florida, persons with felony convictions are disenfranchised for life, unless specifically restored by the governor. It is estimated that by 2030 1 in 3 African-American males will have been convicted of a felony and have lost their right to vote.

Rights restoration is confusing, inconsistently documented and varies widely from state to state.

Our guests including organizations working to build support for restoration of voting rights, activists working at the state and Federal level. We will also hear from affected persons.

  • Edgardo Cortes - The Advancement Project
  • Myrna Perez - Brennan Center for Justice
  • Linwood Christian - Restoration Activist
